Botox and Fillers

Your physician has recommended Botox®and/or Fillers to you. But what exactly is Botox, and how can it help you? Here are a few answers to your questions about Botox® treatment.

  • Botox® treatment is a simple, non-surgical procedure that smoothes the deep, persistent lines between your brows.
  • The 10-minute procedure, involving a few tiny pin-prick injections, relaxes the muscles that cause these lines to form
  • The results are visible within days and can last up to four months

What is Botox?

It is a natural purified protein that relaxes the muscles responsible for producing the lines which appear with the ageing process. It gives the patient a relaxed expression which helps achieve the natural look people want.

How does Botox work?

A tiny amount of Botox® is injected into specific muscles and blocks impulses from the nerve which makes them contract. Because the muscles relax, undesired frown lines and wrinkles are significantly reduced. This treatment only takes 10 minutes and most people return to normal activities immediately afterwards. Botox® should only be injected by an experienced injector who can make sure that the correct amount is injected in precisely the right places. In this way, the desired result with a natural look is achieved.

Is the treatment safe?

Botox® has an excellent safety profile. It has been used for more than 10 years in aesthetic practice and for more than 20 years in neurology and ophthalmology. There are many publications supporting its use. It has a long and impressive safety record. Side effects, if they occur, are usually temporary and mild to moderate. By choosing an experienced injector you will minimize the risk of side effects. It is even used in children as young as two years old with JCP (Juvenile Cerebral Palsy).

How long will it last?

Within days of the treatment, you should start to see an improvement in your lines. The result can last up to 4 months, but it is necessary to bear in mind that this might vary from patient to patient. With repeated treatment, the results can last longer, but treatment should not be repeated more than three times a year.
